Matalan Movie Club

Matalan Movie Club (15)

If you had to name 3 things that girls typically just love what would they be?

I'd have to say Fashion, Champagne and Chick Flicks are pretty up there, so imagine smashing all three together on a Saturday afternoon in a 5* Hotel. I believe I am one lucky girl right now.

To celebrate the launch of Matalan's The Statements collection, they invited some of us blogger types down to The Bvlagri Hotel in Knightsbridge for a Secret Cinema Club.

Bvlgari is an Italian luxury goods company, who also own a few hotels around the world too. It was the first new luxury hotel to be created in London for 40 years, and let me tell you it was stunning. After being shown where to go by the sophisticated staff, we met up in the Ballroom for drinks and of course to browse the new collection.

Sneaky sneaky, I had already had a preview as I had collaborated a few weeks ago with Matalan on The Statements which I blogged about here. The collection is made up of classic pieces which are, as the name would hopefully suggest, statement items, however also wearable and versatile as lets face it, realistically we are not celebrities with an endless wardrobe, re-wearing items over and over is what we do.

I may have fell a  little in love with this jacket, but somehow I don't think blending in was on my side, and so it had to go back on the hanger. Damn you furry yeti.

Now I may have lied when I said 3 things, because when food came out, well that jumped the queue in terms on MY perfect Saturday.

Tiny burgers. I may have had 3, don't tell anyone.

After eating our fair (or my case, not so fair) share of miniature desserts, we were whisked upstairs for the main event. A good old chick flick movie.

My old local cinema was a bit hit and miss really. Sometimes there was the sound of left over popcorn crunching under your feet as your walked down the aisle, and sometimes the ultimate nightmare happened when you sat down to that leftover crunch popcorn on your seat. However this cinema? Certainly not! (Said in a Sloaney Pony voice).

Champagne and popcorn, I definitely think I need to make a service suggestion to Odeon to introduce this feature.

Typical blogger habit- phone out.

We watched Woody Allen's Midnight in Paris, which I honestly, I just fell in love with. I've never seen any of his films before, so went in with an open mind, and also a 'I have no idea what I'm expecting' attitude. I found the film funny in a dry, witty way and a sort of whimsical, touching film, which was all about nostalgia which whether it was the champagne just going to my head I don't know, but I felt rather romanced watching it.

Since being in London, I've been a very very busy bee, too much socialising really, however this cinema day is defiantly up here as one of the best London days so far. So I'll raise (another) glass to many more London days like this, cheers!
